Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy uses plant materials and aromatic plant oils, including essential oils, and other aromatic compounds for the purpose of altering one's mood, cognitive, psychological or physical wellbeing.

 

In general, Essential Oil based Aromatherapy is useful for:

  • Stress/anxiety
  • Headaches/migraines
  • Insomnia & Sleep Issues
  • Chronic or acute pain relief
  • Chronic muscular/joint aches and pain
  • Reducing inflammation
  • Relieving muscle spasms
  • Relax and soothe the nervous system
  • Aid in the treatment of sprains, strains, and repetitive movement injuries
  • And much, much more…

                

For our purposes, we use Essential Oils for Aromatherapy in two ways: 

 

Aromatically in the form of Inhalation:

 

Different types of Inhalation

 

Direct inhalation: refers to sniffing or inhaling an essential oil directly from a bottle, a handkerchief or a cotton-ball.  Direct inhalation is most commonly used for the relief of emotional distress and as supportive therapy for respiratory congestion or other respiratory ailments.  Direct inhalation is also used for its effect on the nervous system.

 

Direct palm inhalation: refers to sniffing or inhaling an essential oil directly from the palms of your hands.  Direct palm inhalations are most commonly utilized for the relief of emotional distress, to uplift and transform ones consciousness, or simply to relax and breathe.  It can be used as supportive therapy for respiratory congestion or other respiratory ailments.

 

Topically in the form of direct application or dilution in Massage lotion:

 

Essential oils are easily absorbed by the skin and many can be safely applied topically when used in conjunction with a carrier oil, such as Fractionated Coconut Oil. For the purposes of massage, essential oils are applied directly to the skin and/or diluted in Massage lotion in order to target specific areas of tension or pain.

 

Rising Sun Therapies uses only the Highest Quality Essential Oils, safest for all forms of Aromatherapy. 

 

Examples of some Essential Oils we use are:

 

Eucalyptus: assists with clear breathing, soothes muscles

Lavender: calming & relaxing, soothes skin irritation, eases head/neck muscle tension

Peppermint: assists with clear breathing, stomach upset, soothes sore & tired muscles

Wintergreen: promotes healthy respiratory function, soothes achy muscles & joints

 

Massage Blend: Features a blend of Basil, Grapefruit, Cypress, Marjoram, Peppermint, and Lavender; Relaxes muscles, calms tension, promotes circulation, and soothes joints

Grounding Blend: Features a blend of Spruce, Ho Wood, Frankincense, and Blue Tansy: Promotes whole body relaxation, Evokes feelings of tranquility and balance

Soothing Blend: Features a blend of Wintergreen, Camphor, Peppermint, Blue Tansy, German Chamomile, Helichrysum, and Osmanthus: Soothes sore muscles and achy joints

Tension Blend:  Features a blend of Wintergreen, Lavender, Peppermint, Frankincense, Cilantro, Marjoram, Roman Chamomile, Basil, and Rosemary: Eases muscle tension in the head and neck
